Manhwa Review: Close as Neighbors

I'm not usually a big fan of most adult mangas or stories, as a general rule, I tried to keep myself away from them not because I don't like adult themes stories but because I tend to take them to heart and find myself feeling bad for days after I finish one. The drama, in general, tends to affect me a lot so I end up reading and watching more fantasy stuff to keep myself from feeling down for weeks after reading.Then again that doesn't work all that well. Fantasy stuff can be as heartbreaking when the author kills off your favorite character as any tear-jerking drama of our beloved era.Back to the main, I found about this manhwa by pure luck on my Facebook thread. Saw a link to it in my journal and read 2 chapters before getting locked as I wasn't on a free website. Found the manhwa again on another website and read it up to chapter 43 only to see that I was lacking the last 9 chapters of the series. So I searched around the missing chapter on a third website. Quite the hassle but all in all was more than worth it. Here is the link with all the chapter so you don't have to get in the same trouble as I did.

The Story

The story revolved around Theo Son 30 years old white-collar and his neighbors April, May and June Min. Theo has been as close as a brother to the sisters since his childhood to the point he spent most of his life with them but after two 'small' incidents with May as each one saw something they shouldn't have. He suddenly learns that he must find a fiance by the end of the year otherwise. The story turns around how his relationship evolves with the people around him and how he goes around resolving the situations he finds himself into, It's a story about feelings and relationships and how to resolve them.

As I don't want to spoil anything from the story I can't give out too much information but I was them May from the start! 

The Characters

Theo Son

The Main Character of the story, he finds himself with a lucky situation a bit too often but he's the type of person who's too gentle for his own sake. He's more worried about the others and not enough about himself. He only has one year to find a fiance or he will be denied from his family.

April Min

Around ten years older than Theo, she is married and has a child named Max, she, however, lived separated from her husband as he works in another country. She came back to live after her sister afterward and is Theo first love.

May Min

The middle sister and my favorite, she can only be described as a Tsundere. She has feelings for Theo for years now but as Theo was always only interested in April she suppressed her feelings as she felt she couldn't win. She comes in term with her feeling more and more as the manhwa goes on.

June Min

The youngest sister of the family, pressured at a young age and with a complex with her sister she vents her stress manipulating men to her will and desires. She ends up interested in Theo after she saw May and Theo entangled on a bed half-naked. 

Nadia

One of the best friends of Theo, she has known Theo since they first started working at the same company for years. While she's not one of the main characters of the story she's an important character to the story.

The Art

The art is what should be expected from a webcomic in general. The color palette is quite vivid and bright. But don't make a darker scene out of this world either. The art is very similar to mangas as it's a manhwa. The background has good details but doesn't take the attention off the main subject of the scenes. Overall the art was to my liking and didn't break off the story.

The Fan service

A bit subjective but I believe the Manhwa relied too much on the sex scenes too keep the public interested. If the scenes were rarer they would have much more impact. As they were as frequent as every two chapters sometime, two scenes lost their strength and impact. Overall the scene was great they got to the point and never got too long but their frequency was problematic in my eyes. 

The Verdict

My verdict is clear, I enjoy this manhwa so much that I read it in a single night nonstop. It took around 5 hours to pass through it but I was really into it. If you think you can enjoy a bit of drama and want a story about relationships and feeling, I can only recommend this manhwa too you.
